Best GM Safety Features

June 30, 2017 by Jim Hensley Leave a Comment

Vehicle safety is one of the top priorities for people who are in the market for new cars. It makes sense – when you’re going to be riding in a fast car, you want to make sure safety measures are put into place in the event of a crash. Luckily, GM takes these safety features seriously. Today we will be talking about the best safety features that are in GM vehicles right now!

Teen Driver Technology

The biggest day of our lives is when we’re 16 and finally get our driver’s license. The scariest day of our lives is when our own kids get theirs. Luckily, GM has you covered with this with their teen driver technology.

Did you know that fatal car crashes for 16 – 19 year olds are almost triple the amount those who are 20 and older? This is because teenagers’ minds are still developing. Think back to when you were a teen – you had the newfound freedom of driving, and you wanted to drive fast. The teen driver technology allows parents to view their teen’s driving habits through a report card. It shows the miles driven, maximum speed reached, and stability control events triggered.

After viewing this report card, parents can enable settings such as volume limiting or muting the radio, set speed warnings, and turning on safety features and not allowing them to be disabled. While teens may not be in favor of this technology, parents should certainly look for these features when buying them their first car!

When driving on the freeway, cruise control can be a savior when it comes to the long hours spent driving. However, it can be frustrating when traffic isn’t following the same speed. If you’re approaching a car, you will often times need to turn off the cruise control and match its speed before once again enabling it.

This frustration gets eliminated with Adaptive Cruise Control. Adaptive Cruise Control is often times referred to as “cruise control +” as its technology allows the car to sense the traffic in front of you. By sensing it, it will decrease and increase speed accordingly, and allow you to follow that vehicle at a safe distance.

Parking Assist

It’s 2017 – don’t purchase a car without parking assist! If you’re like many Americans, parking can definitely be a challenge. This challenge greatly intensifies when you have a bigger vehicle such as a pick-up truck or SUV. Luckily, parking assist can help you save the hassle.

Front and rear parking assist provides alerts to the driver when they are approaching an object. These alerts become more frequent as the object becomes closer meaning you will be able to scale how far away the object is. This means that things such as parallel parking become much easier, and you will not have to dread it any longer.

In this day and age, safety features can and should be at the forefront of your mind when you are purchasing a new vehicle. Luckily GM has you covered. GM believes in keeping the driver safe and making driving a convenient experience which makes your n
