The heat and wear that summer brings can put a heavy toll on your vehicle. Thus, it is important to check your car’s systems and make sure it is ready for any traveling you may have planned. Below are some things to keep in mind when you get your car ready for summer:
Air Conditioning
Most people’s AC gets heavy usage during the hot summer months, so checking it ahead of time can prevent you from suffering from the heat of the season. Check the filters and pumps to make sure your AC system is in top operating condition for all the hard work it will be putting in during the hottest months of the year. Check before, and you won’t have any regrets later.
Engine
Engine performance can suffer during summer trips if the engine is not maintained properly. Check the oil and change it as often as suggested by your vehicle’s manufacturer. Even so, be sure to keep in mind that if you take long trips or haul cargo, you may need to change your oil more often than usual. If you have any doubts, give us a call and we will point you in the right direction.
Coolant System
Another part of keeping your engine healthy is keeping it cool. Be sure to check your coolant system before the weather gets too hot. The system should be completely flushed every 24-months, and the level and condition of the coolant should also be checked periodically.
Windshield Wipers
With summer comes rains and storms, so having your windshield wipers up to par is an important safety issue. Replace wiper blades that are worn, and make sure you have plenty of windshield washer solvent to keep the windshield clean.
