Get Your Car Ready for Back-To-School

September 9, 2016 by Jim Hensley Leave a Comment

Back to school driving

It’s that wonderful time of year. It’s the time of year where peace and order can finally be restored – the kids are back in school! Whether you have kids going to school or are going to school yourself, you’re going to need to get your car ready for the school year! That’s why we here at GM Outlet Parts are helping by giving you some tips to make sure your car is ready!

Get It Set Up for Carpooling

Whether you’re driving yourself or driving your kids to school – carpooling is a great idea. Not only does it save you gas money in the long run, but it can also make the rides to and from school more enjoyable. Having companions allows you to wake up in the morning and have a bit of fun before your responsibilities.

With technology advancing, carpooling has gotten even more efficient. Download apps that allow you to plan your route around traffic, or make music playlists or the whole vehicle to enjoy. Just because you’re on your way to school doesn’t mean that the ride has to be boring!

Remember – Safety Comes First

One thing that you may have forgotten about is school-zone driving. School zones will be littered with children in the morning, and you’ll have to adjust your driving habits accordingly. Remember – children don’t always think. Pay very mindful of where children are, and drive slowly when going through these zones.

Also remember the rules of the road – when schoolbus stop signs come out it means STOP. Do not try to pass, or it can result in a hefty fine. When a cross guard steps onto the road, stop even if you have the right of way. Being cautious in school zones save lives – don’t cut any corners.

Make Sure Your Vehicle Is in Good Condition

Lastly, it’s incredibly important to make sure that your car is in good condition for back to school season. The summer months usually mean lots of driving, whether it’s on long road trips or day trips to the beach. This can cause a lot of wear-and-tear on your vehicle. It’s a good idea to give your car a check up at the mechanic’s to ensure that your car will drive safely into fall.

With school back in session, it’s time to set your car up for fall. While it may evoke sad emotions when taking all the summer gear out, it’s important to optimize your vehicle to give the best back-to-school experience for everyone involved.
