5 Life Hacks for Your Vehicle

November 21, 2017 by Jim Hensley Leave a Comment

If you’re anything like us here at GM Outlet Parts, your vehicle means a lot to you. Often times, you may find yourself spending more time in your car than you do in your own home. This can make your vehicle almost feel like a second home. When you spend so much time in your car, it’s important that you get as much use out of it as possible. That’s why GM Outlet Parts wants to give you 5 life hacks for your vehicle! Using these life hacks can make driving a more pleasurable experience, and keep your car running more efficiently!

Take A Picture

Like most of us, the hardest part of shopping is finding where in the world you’ve parked. There are times where we can spend minutes clicking our lock button on our keys, hoping to hear a distant beep. However, there is a simple way of finding your car that doesn’t involve having super sonic hearing. Simply take a picture.

If you find yourself shopping at a busy mall, take out your cell phone and take a picture of your car and its surroundings as soon as you step out. The visual image will be a huge help when you come out a few hours later.

 Using Hand Sanitizer to De-Ice

If you live in an area that has extremely cold winters and have an older model vehicle, then this life hack is for you. Nothing is worse than running late for work and finding that the winter weather decided to put a layer of ice between you and the keyhole to unlock your car. However, there is a simple way to solve this – hand sanitizer.

Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket or purse at all times. If you find yourself in this situation, pull it out and simply squirt some on the ice. The alcohol should quickly melt that ice and you will be able to get into your car!

Nail Polish For Scratches

Do you have a pesky scratch on your otherwise beautiful paint job? Fear not – there is a fix! While of course, you could spend a ton of money on repainting the car to cover the scratch, a much cheaper-yet-still-effective way of getting rid of the scratch is by using a simple beauty item – nail polish.

If you have a small scratch, simply find the nail polish that is closest to your car in color. Then, simply paint the scratch gently with said nail polish. You can even use clear nail polish to prevent dents from rusting!

Keep Food Warm

Here’s the dilemma – the football game is on today and you need a pizza. However, the best pizza place in town is on the west end of the city, and you’re on the east end! By the time you grab the pizza and drive home, that delicious pizza may be cold. However, if you have a car with seat warmers, this issue can be averted.

This is a simple life hack that many people seem to not do. If you’re bringing home take-out food, turn on your seat warmers. Place said food on the seat that is now warmed. Your food will stay warm until you get home. Enjoy your pizza!

Organize Your Trunk with Laundry Baskets

When is the last time you’ve looked at your backseat? If you’re like many drivers, you probably mindlessly throw stuff in the back seat only to never think about it again. However, if you look at your backseat, you may notice that there are no seats left – it has become storage for all of your unwanted bags, books, cleaning supplies and sometimes even garbage.

Now, while many people will transfer these items to the trunk, we recommend you take it a step further. Why not organize your trunk while you’re at it? Simply grab a few laundry baskets and organize your trunk based on items that belong together. You’ll find that trunk is not only cleaner, but it will actually increase your space!

A car is a big part of your life. It gets you where you need to go and you likely spend a multitude of hours in your vehicle every week. Using these life hacks, your driving life can become much easier and your car can last a lot longer. Remember, your car wants to be treated well – if it needs parts, GM Outlet Parts offers genuine GM parts at discount prices!
